We believe that Science plays an important part

here at Hayfield Lane Primary

strive to

ensure an excellent provision of learning opportunities

and provide a balance of practical and theoretical lessons. This ensures that each year group

builds upon previous knowledge and understanding.

Throughout the learning process assessment is used as a tool to guide the direction of the

encourage children to constantly reflect on their progress towardsmeeting the

learning objective and identify next steps.

We believe that a high quality

mathematics education is paramount as

it equips childrenwith the foundations

for understanding theworld. We use a

mastery approach to teachingmaths

where the emphasis on problemsolving

and comprehension allows pupils to

makemathematical connections.

We put a great emphasis on the

foundations for learning and not on

the content itself so students learn to

thinkmathematically as opposed to

merely reciting formulas or procedures.

We usemanymathematical resources

throughout the school to ensure a

secure understanding of key concepts.
